YouTube Center Stage

YouTubeTM and Live Nation announced the first ever YouTube CenterStage, a program to bring YouTube musicians onto the same stage as world-famous artists at concerts around Asia. CenterStage featured YouTube musician Sam Tsui who opened for Bon Jovi at Jakarta’s Gelora Bung Karno Stadium in front of over 40,000 fans on Friday, September 11, 2015.

YouTube CenterStage is enabling music creators by giving them once-in-a-lifetime opportunities to perform live in front of a huge music-loving audience.

25-year-old rising star Sam Tsui is one of YouTube’s most prominent pop singing sensations. He was among the first musicians to establish a hugely popular channel on the website and, to date, his videos of covers, mashups and original songs have amassed over 500 million hits. In 2013, he released his debut album “Make It Up,” which was partially funded by his fans on a Kickstarter campaign, and embarked on his first US tour. This summer, Sam is on a seven nation tour throughout Southeast Asia. He has been nominated for a Teen Choice and Streamy Award in 2015.  Sam's work has attracted the attention of a number of global brands, including Kia, Disney, and Coca Cola, which has included his music on a national television campaign.

Viewers everywhere had the chance to watch a livestream of  Sam’s performance live on YouTube on the CenterStage Channel and a VOD recording of the performance hosted on the CenterStage Channel has since been watched over 75,000 times.

While in Jakarta, Sam also worked with Indonesia’s Eka Gustiwana and Jakarta Beatbox on a special collaboration video, giving local YouTube musicians a chance to experience the magic of collaborating with an international YouTube star.

Through its music partnerships and joint ventures, Parallel Media Group is excited to be working with such an innovative media partner in YouTube to provide a platform for new artists to showcase their talent to audiences across Asia.
